Dr Susan Carland is a sociologist of religion and the Deputy Director of Research, Impact, and Engagement for the School of Social Sciences at Monash University, and co-Chief Investigator of the Campus Cohesion program which researches antisemitism, Islamophobia. and anti-Palestinian hate on campus. She is an ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) Fellow and a Churchill fellow, and has published extensively, including her monograph Fighting Hislam: women, faith and sexism. She has won awards for her teaching and her research, and in 2022 was a national finalist in the Australian Financial Review's "Emerging Leader" in Higher Education award. She hosts the award-winning podcast "What Happens Next", and was host of the television show, "Child Genius". She sits on multiple boards including the Islamophobia Register Australia, has been named on the "500 Most Influential Muslims in the World" list, and as a “Muslim Leader of Tomorrow” by the UN Alliance of Civilisations. Susan is an ambassador for UNICEF Australia, and a certified scuba diver.
