Julie Hare was most recently the education editor at The Australian Financial Review and has over 20 years’ experience as a writer, journalist and editor, mainly specialising in education. Julie’s award-winning work includes articles on the intersection of international students and migration and the politicisation of migration during the last election.

For seven years she was the higher education editor of The Australian, during which time she reported on gender equity in universities, among graduates and other workforce implications. Before that she was editor-in-chief at APN Educational Media and editor of Campus Review.

Julie also spent time with KPMG and as a freelance journalist. She is an honorary fellow at the University of Melbourne and has been actively involved with both the Whitlam Institute at Western Sydney University and the Governance Institute of Australia in various capacities for several years.
