Jonathon Duniam was elected to the Senate in 2016 and is currently the Federal Shadow Minister for Home Affairs. As a proud sixth-generation Tasmanian with an especially strong family heritage in the northwest of the state, he hopes to see more young Tasmanians stay in the state and build their education, careers, and successful stories locally.

Throughout his career, Jonathon has worked in public service positions and has been close to the policymaking process, including as the Deputy Chief of Staff to past Tasmanian Premier, Will Hodgman. In relation to education, he is passionate about improving opportunities and outcomes for both educators and students – and working with stakeholders across the sector to help lift standards and results across the country.
