David Crosbie is CEO of the Community Council for Australia, a role he has held for 12 years. He has been a CEO of significant not-for-profit organisations for more than 25 years, including CEO of the Mental Health Council of Australia, the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia, and Odyssey House Victoria.

He has served on many national advisory groups and Boards including the first and third (still current) Advisory Boards for the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission, the Not-for-Profit Sector Reform Council, Chair of the National Compact Expert Advisory Group, and an inaugural member (then a judge) of the Pro Bono Australia ‘Impact 25’ listing of the most influential leaders in Australian charities and not-for-profit sector. He is also a judge on numerous current sector awards, a regular presenter at charities and not-for-profit forums and conferences, writes a fortnightly opinion piece for the Community Advocate, and is a commentator on sector issues in various media outlets.

David is a leading advocate for charities and not-for-profit sector reform, having made many submissions and presentations to Parliamentary committees and sector inquiries.

He has a diverse background, having taught in prison and other special settings, been a probation officer, lectured at University, worked as a farm hand, truck driver, bank teller, public servant, and a musician in a successful rock band.
